The Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament that is offered to those experiencing serious illness or those who have become weak with age or infirmity. If someone wishes to be anointed, please call the parish office and the priest on duty will arrange a time to visit the person at home, in a nursing home or in the hospital.
In case of life-threatening emergency, please call 818-340-6020 any time of the day or night. If the office is closed when you call, you will be given specific instructions on how to contact the priest on duty.
It is important to remember that the person to be anointed should be the one desiring the sacrament. It has happened that well-meaning hospital personnel or family members request the sacrament on behalf of the person, but when the priest arrives he discovers that the person does not want to receive the sacrament of anointing. We always want to respect the dignity and freedom of each person; this is especially important at a time when people feel most out of control.
We continue to pray for one another as our friends and loved ones experience sickness and diminishment. We pray too for caregivers who serve the needs of the sick and suffering and aging.
