St Vincent De Paul, through its Needy Case Ministry, provides assistance to those who because of sickness, job loss, or other situations, require help in meeting their bills. Emergency assistance may include helping to pay routine bills such as utilities, rent/mortgage – or buying life’s basic necessities such as food and life saving medication. In addition to financial assistance the plan may include providing referrals to various community agencies including child care, affordable housing, and medical services. A home visit is required where the SVDP Case Worker team would assess the needs and resources of the client and co-create a strengths based plan. In providing our services, the SVDP Case Worker team maintains respect for client welfare, integrity, dignity, and autonomy. The team protects client’s right to privacy by treating as confidential all information obtained from the client, except where discloser is required by law or is justified in order to prevent impending, substantial harm to the client or to others. In all such exceptional cases, disclosure may be made given that it is made to the appropriate party or authority and no more information than necessary is disclosed.

The economic downturn over the last several years has caused a surge in those needing assistance, many for the first time. Even with a steady improvement, because of the continuing shortage of jobs, the demand for assistance persists. Fortunately, because of the generosity within our parish, the community and available government programs we are able to respond to the needs of our community.

Our Ministry covers parish boundaries in the communities of Woodland Hills and Canoga Park. Not within our parish boundaries? We can provide a referral to a parish that serves your area. Please call 818-340-6020 Extension 3001 or visit us at:
